Global updates – a quick glance
Australia: Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting is now applicable for businesses having less than 20 employees (from July 2019).
Brazil: Brazil allows an additional three days of paid leave per year to all employees for cancer prevention examinations.
Hong Kong: Any foreign company operating in Hong Kong will now need to have a representative with an address in Hong Kong.
India: A new compliance requirement for companies in India is that companies must file certain information on its registered office in e-form ACTIVE (Active Company Tagging Identities and Verification).
Ireland: There is a new requirement to issue a signed statement of employment with five core terms within five days of of the employee’s employment (the “Day 5” statement).
Singapore: All employees will be now be covered under the employment act. The major implication being that over 400,000 managerial and executive employees will now be entitled to certain minimum leave / holidays and protection from unfair dismissals.
UK: The EU has granted the UK an extension through October 31, 2019 to leave the EU, which has been accepted by the UK. This extension has prevented the possibility of the UK leaving the EU without a deal as previously scheduled on April 12, 2019 (No Deal Brexit).
